TORRANCE, CA. – The Scott Newman Center, founded by actor/philanthropist Paul Newman is once again holding their annual Camp SummerFest Celebration – a night of festivities that generates much-needed support for the center’s Rowdy Ridge Gang Summer Camp. The camp, now in its 15th year, is a specialized summer program for women and their children who are addiction and abuse survivors, teaching life skills that are critical in order for them to avoid reentering abusive lifestyles and relationships. With the generous help from the humanitarian community, the Scott Newman Center has been able to create hope and healing where once there was none.

To help support this worthy, and life-changing endeavor, members of the South Bay community will join together with local businesses for Camp SummerFest 2008, held on Sunday, August 17, 2008 in Old Town Torrance.

The evening kicks off with a full cocktail bar and gourmet appetizers for guests to enjoy as they peruse a multitude of incredible silent auction items, including spa treatments, health club memberships, sports event tickets, various other exotic sundries, and trips to Maui, Spain, Costa Rica, Mammoth Lakes – all to a backdrop of a fantastic live band. As the evening rolls along, Depot restaurant Chef Michael Shafer fires up his gourmet BBQ feast and the Live Auction comes to life with even more amazing travel and entertainment opportunities. Next, the band kicks it into high gear, beckoning daring groovers and shakers to the dance floor to boogie the night away to Top 40 hits, classic rock and Motown beats!
